Uitspan Retreat!
Uitspan Retreat is located in the scenic Tulbagh Valley.
The 5 ha farm is surrounded by majestic mountains and has breathtaking views of the Tulbagh Waterfall. The lush gardens have spacious lawns and beautiful trees with ample water. On a visit to Uitspan you will experience a peaceful atmosphere.
Vision
Uitspan has been a well known campsite of the Christians Student Association. Marcel and Riana Vosloo bought Uitspan in 2022 and, as followers of Jesus Christ, it is their desire for the retreat to be a place where God’s will rules.
THEIR VISION FOR UITSPAN:
A place of rest and recuperation for everyone that visits – and that they would leave with new strength and joy in the Lord.
Groups
The Retreat accommodates groups of up to 104 people and welcome Christian churches, schools, leadership training, cultural organisations and NGO’s. It is worthwhile to make reservations as soon as possible. High season is from mid August to May. Take into account that long weekends and holidays during this time are usually the first to be booked out.
Amenities
Spacious hall
Includes 120 chairs and ample tables.
Kitchen and Scullery
With a fridge, freezer, electrical oven, microwave and a big five burner gas cooker.
Accommodation
10 dormitory style bedrooms with bunk beds. Accommodates 104 guests.
Cottage
The cottage can be booked separately if required. Accommodates 4 guests.
Ablution facilities
Electrical geysers with 12 showers, 11 toilets and 16 washing basins.
The Lapa
Its concrete seating beside the fire place is ideal for sing-songs, sermons and discussions.
Swimming Pool
13 metres in diameter and 1,4m deep.
Volleyball Court
Situated in the shadows of the Poplar trees.
Fonteinhuisie (Cottage)

Our secluded cottage is on a 2,3 ha piece of land, across the Watervalsriver from Uitspan, and is called ‘Fonteinhuisie’. It is the go-to place for a peaceful breakaway to relax and meditate. One can enjoy the beauty of creation from your chair on the front stoep. Fonteinhuisie is off-grid and has all the necessary amenities.
